Mulching March 28

March 25, 2009 - 11:51 AM

From Board:

SPOA Friends,

I have the chipper reserved for this weekend.  I will pick it up around 4 on Friday afternoon.  It has a time meter on it, so we will have 8 hours of operation.  I will charge it on my credit card as long as the SPOA will reimburse me.

It may be kind of ugly weather on Saturday, but I would prefer to stick to our schedule.

We will start at the Townhouse pile at 9:00AM Saturday.
The Townhouse Association asked that we not pile the mulch on the grass (as they have enough trouble getting it to grow in that area.)  They offered to let us use a parking space accross the street. I'm fine with that, and I expect some, if not all, of that pile will go to the transplaning efforts at the pavillion.

The second stop will be Stange pile.  This includes the evergreen stuff from the Crescent Circle.  There is an existing mulch pile that is somewhat overgrown with grass.  We may consider adding to that pile rather than killing more grass.

The final stop will be Crescent Lawn.  This is the largest pile.  We can decide whether to put it straight into the play area, or into a pile behind the sign.

I expect we will need lots of hands to help prepare the branches to go into the chipper.

If somebody has time to join me Friday afternoon to learn how to operate the machine I would welcome them.

I have several sets of goggles for anyone working near the chipper.

We will likely need multiple sets of loppers to help prep the branches.

Please spread the word about helping out.
