Tree Damage in Somerset

The following announcement came out from the City of Ames this morning regarding clean-up of downed tree limbs and trees from the storm last night.

Tree Limb Drop-Off Site to Open Through Aug. 5
Posted Date:7/26/2012 10:00 AM
AMES, Iowa – (July 26, 2012) – Severe weather and strong winds damaged property and created electric outages around Ames late Wednesday evening.

City of Ames crews will continue to clear tree limbs from the public right of way (typically the area between the sidewalk and the street). To assist residents, the City has opened a drop-off site for tree limbs, branches, and vegetative debris from private property at the Parks and Recreation Maintenance Facility at 700 East 13th St. The site will be marked with a sign and open daylight hours through Sunday, Aug. 5. There will not be a curbside pickup for tree limbs.

Residents should contact their private garbage hauler for non-tree limb debris from the storm. To report tree limb damage on public property, contact the Public Works Department at             (515) 239-5160      .

POA Annual Meeting and Snow Clearance Map

December 8, 2011 - 10:03 PM

The Somerset Property Owners Association annual meeting is set for January 24, 2012 at 7PM in the Somerset Clubhouse.  There are two openings on the board.  Being on the board is a great way to help our small community and does ntot requrire that much time.  More information on the meeting:  2012 Somerset POA Meeting Announcement

Also if you cannot attend please fill out the proxy and return:  Proxy 2012  We need votes to get a quorum to make the meeting official (so we don't have to repeat the experience on these cold winter nights).

With today's snow (12/8/2011) it is a reminder that the City of Ames does require all of us to keep our sidewalks clean.  There are quite a few associations within Somerset who have responsibilities keeping various walks and alleys clean of snow.  Here is a link of the areas that are being taken care of with the Somerset POA:  2012 Somerset POA Snow Map
